ASG working on the virtual site Zintro – see their article about us

Stuart Matheson, an aviation management consultant, offers support services to airlines, airports, and allied suppliers. Matheson received a Zintro inquiry from a client looking to create a military dashboard for marketing reasons. The client wanted a dashboard solution for war or crisis and needed an expert with experience who could describe KPIs. Matheson sent a proposal and got the contract.

“I provided an insider perspective to the client’s product development team and was able to offer an overseas perspective without having the expense of travelling to meet the client. Zintro offers the ability for both client and consultant to window shop without commitment, prospecting without the element of cold calling which can be difficult,” says Matheson. “The Zintro system is good for client and consultant as it takes care of the payment process and allows the parties to match skills easily to the task. ASG Announce 2011 EasyJet Deal

ASG have completed a deal with  international ground handling provider Servisair to provide ground handling services for low-cost operator EasyJet at their hubs in Newcastle and Liverpool John Lennon airports.  EasyJet flew over 49 million passengers in 2009, and with the expansion of routes from these two key northern airports, 2011 looks set for a bumper year.

The contracts begin in early 2011 but preparation work has been on-going for a number of months already.  ASG have a long history of designing and managing bespoke business solutions for the aviation industry, and in this venture we will provide operational planning, support and training to a team dedicated to the specific demands of low-cost, quick

turnaround airlines operators.

“The link with Servisair gives all parties the security of a large support structure for health and safety, human resources and other back-office functions,” explained project director John Fulford. “The team at ASG have a long and successful history of providing  great ground handling, designed for the customer and aimed at providing great service to the clients’ passengers”

It is hoped that the work-force at both airports will be expanded in line with operational requirements and this has to be a boost for both local economies – secure in the knowledge of continued support for the airports by one of the worlds largest airlines.

ASG – Aviation Security Expertise For the Real World

Following the recent security alerts across the world, the airline security industry has gone into overdrive as they encourage  government avsec departments to mandate the use of x-ray and other detection devices on cargo flights.

UPS - Quick to act on recent security alert

As we have seen over the past 10 or so years of heightened security requirements, some of the measures have been counter-productive in the overall scheme of things.  There can be no denying that a great leap forward occurred with the AAA regulations requiring all baggage to be reconciled with the passengers on-board.  However, I remain at a loss as to why liquids are limited to 100ml although the number of individual 100ml units is not restricted.  Likewise, why do we need to remove our laptops at the x-ray despite the fact that the machines are perfectly capable of scanning through laptop bags.  We must hope that the ban on toner cartridges does not implicate every photocopier engineer in a terrorist plot!

ASG have been involved at the strategic and operational levels at airports across the world,

Airports have to operate safely but the public also want speed and ease of service

and for many of the industry users themselves.  We urge a considered approach to the mandating of any new requirements, and whilst we always advocate the highest security and safety for the industry and public, we would remind the decision makers that aviation needs to operate safely, on-time and profitably in order to survive.  A considered and consistent approach is necessary – do not confuse increased bureaucracy with better security measures.

ASG are working with airlines and third party industry suppliers in planning their contingency and emergency planning programs, as well as assisting in the operational solutions required to facilitate higher security and maintain their daily business.
